Trip to OliOli – Year 3 and 4 (Term 1)
Our Year 3 and 4 students recently embarked on an unforgettable educational journey to OliOli, an interactive play museum designed to spark creativity, curiosity, and exploration. The day was filled with hands-on activities that encouraged critical thinking, teamwork, and, most importantly, lots of fun!
Highlights of the Day
1. Arrival and Warm Welcome
The excitement was palpable as students arrived at OliOli, ready to dive into its interactive exhibits. The friendly OliOli team gave a warm welcome and a brief orientation, ensuring the students could safely and fully enjoy the museum’s incredible spaces.
2. Exploring Themed Galleries
Each gallery at OliOli offers unique, play-based learning experiences that engaged students in a variety of STEAM concepts.
- Water Gallery: A crowd favorite, students explored water currents, pressure, and flow by creating waterfalls, racing boats, and experimenting with fluid dynamics and water conservation.
- Tinkering Studio: Students channeled their inner inventors by designing and building creative contraptions using tools, gears, and craft materials. This hands-on activity fostered teamwork, problem-solving, and innovation.
- Air Gallery: Excitement soared as students learned about air pressure, wind, and flight. The Air Rockets station and wind tunnels were highlights, allowing students to experiment with flight dynamics.
- Future Park: In this digital art gallery, students brought their drawings to life on large interactive screens. Watching their creations animate and interact in a virtual world was nothing short of magical.
3. Teamwork and Social Skills
The day’s activities encouraged collaboration and communication as students worked in groups to solve challenges, share ideas, and celebrate achievements. These experiences helped develop their critical thinking, creativity, and resilience in the face of new challenges.
4. Lunch Break and Reflection
Midday, students enjoyed a picnic-style lunch, giving them time to relax, chat, and share their favorite parts of the morning.
5. Reflecting and Wrapping Up
Before heading back to school, students reflected on their experiences, discussing what inspired them most and how they could apply their new knowledge. The bus ride home buzzed with excitement as they shared stories and memories of their adventure.
The trip to OliOli was a resounding success! It provided our students with an enriching, hands-on learning experience that deepened their understanding of STEAM concepts while fostering creativity, teamwork, and a love for exploration.
We look forward to many more opportunities to bring learning to life beyond the classroom!
