Primary Curriculum
At the end of the Foundation Stage, students enter the primary section of school. The primary section is divided into two key stages;
- Key Stage 1 is comprised of Year 1 and Year 2
- Key Stage 2 comprised of Year 3 to Year 6
The structure of the curriculum changes and the following subjects are now taught:
- English
- Mathematics
- Science
- Geography
- History
- Information and Communication Technology (ICT)
- Art and Design
- Physical Education
- French
- Arabic*
- Islamic Studies (for our Muslim pupils)*
- Global Citizenship (for our non-Muslim pupils)
- Qatar History*
Throughout Key Stages 1 and 2, links are made across the curriculum wherever possible. This is in keeping with our holistic teaching methodology, which recognises that the learning experience is greatly enriched when subjects are not taught in isolation. We have key stage coordinators to ensure that there is a natural progression for children moving from one year group to the next as well as subject leaders for core subjects across the curriculum. Subject specialist teachers deliver ICT, Art and Design, PE, Foreign Language, Arabic, and Islamic Studies programmes – please refer to these sections for more information.
